It’s Baby Time!

…unfortunately it’s not for me….yet. But it is for Heather and Barney! Simeon and I are heading to Bellingham in a few minutes and we are going to be there to welcome the latest Boisvert to the world. I am so excited for Heather and Barney, not only do they already have an adorable little princess in Miss Lindsay, but they are about to have their second child.

Heather being one of my oldest friends, I have been lucky enough to watch her change and grow over the years and she has becoming the most loving mother and supportive wife. Had you known her ten (hell, even five!!) years ago, you would never have believed she would become a wife, let alone a mother. But now that she has, I couldn’t be more proud of her and the woman she has become. I love her more than anything, and while I will hold it against her forever that she moved so far away from me, the fact that she personally asked me to be in the waiting room when she had her baby, I think I may start to forgive her.

So Sim and I are taking off for the weekend. But we made sure the hotel we are staying at has Wi-Fi so we can upload the pictures and share their little one with the world. I love you, Heather. We are on our way!

Thinking…

…work potlucks ROCK. I am sitting at my desk eating a Fudgesicle. MMMMmmmmmmm!

…this Fudgesicle also happens to be sugar-free which, to me, translates to guilt-free!

…typing with one hand really slows me down. But its really hard to hold the Fudgesicle with no hands and not drip it all over the place.

Reason # 864 why I love my husband

Simeon lets me sort my Sour Patch Kids by color. He even helped! Without teasing me. God, I love this man.

(Oh and this photo was taken while we were seeing Dukes of Hazzard over the weekend with my new camera phone. Yeah, that my husband got for me ’cause he didn’t want me to ever be without a camera. And that’s reason 865, baby!)

What, am I in high school?

On one of my many trips to the bathroom, I realized I needed to, um, take care of somethings while I was in there (if you catch my drift) so I grabbed my purse and fished out a tampon. Then I realized my fancy-work-pants do not have pockets, which presents me with the problem of walking through the lobby of my office (complete with co-workers and clients) to get to the restroom out in the hall with a tampon in my hand. So what do I do? What else?! I toss the tampon down my shirt and it settles nicely between the girls. And you know what, it didn’t occur to me that it was at all silly until I actually got into the restroom. Then I rolled my eyes at myself and thought, “Ohmigod. What did I just do? I totally feel like I am in high school again!”

My Birthday Parties

Ok, so I know my birthday was practically a week ago, but what fun would it be if I only celebrated for a day and moved on? No thank you! So I wanted to share the photos that I finally uploaded (with Sim’s help, since we needed a new program to actually get them onto my site.) from the two parties we had.

The first was primarily family, with a few die-hard friends who could actually make it (I love you guys the mostest!), a few of them for only a few minutes as they had to return to work or had another commitment. But my family hung out and everyone got silly and surprisingly everyone behaved! (Now I know most families have dysfunction, but mine sometimes a little more than most, as we are filled with all sorts of drama that prevents us all from gathering in the same place without having at least one person scream obscenities while someone else bursts into tears. Hey, it happens.)

Then on Wednesday we continued to celebrate my birthday (in a drastic attempt to rid my house of cake!) with our near and dear friends. We had the die-hards who rarely miss a week (Nick and Megan), some we were surprised to see (David and Jason), and some we are welcoming back into our circle with open-arms (Jen and Mitch). It was a great balance. The boys busted out the video games and played foos ball while us girls browsed through photos (Lindsay is just too cute not to share!) and talked. It was perfect.

Oh yeah, and my loving husband bought me a Harry Potter birthday cake, complete with a Harry figurine and “Tom Riddle’s Diary” you can actually write on. It doesn’t get any better than that! There are a few more pictures in the Carrie’s Birthday Parties gallery.

Delays

Sorry that the pictures aren’t up yet (I don’t even know if there are any good ones, since I didn’t take ’em) but I was home sick yesterday with a migraine. Urgh. No fun at all. I was stuck in bed all day holding onto my head, praying for it to stop. I think its a result of going off the BCPs and now my hormones are all a mess. What fun times I have ahead! Yippee! So after getting caught up here at work, I am now leaving the office for the rest of the day to attend a seminar/conference thingy. Yeah, it’s that technical. So the pictures will have to wait another day since tonight is my weekly Wednesday night dinner. Oh and there may be more pictures added to them, since we are kinda celebrating tonight too. Mostly because I have an ENTIRE cake left, but also to share my birthday love with those who missed the party on Sunday. Ok, gotta run now. Adios amigos!

The first let down of being 25

I was just checking my Yahoo! email and a survey popped up asking for my opinion. I am all about giving my opinion (that and I was bored) so I clicked ok. It said it should take about 10 minutes (which I totally had) and wanted to know my thoughts on their services and products. The first question was my age bracket. Instinctually, I went for the “18-24” option but then I stopped. I was no longer in that age bracket! I was up a bracket!! So I, sadly, clicked the “25-34” option. Then to my dismay, it said “Thank you. We already have enough information from this sector.”

Damn 25. What a let down!

Surprise!

Wow! All I can say is I was actually surprised. For those of you who don’t know, my lovely husband threw me a surprise party for my birthday. Well, to be totally honest, he had to, since it is a standing tradition in my family that for your 25th birthday, you get a surprise party. Which makes it harder and harder to actually surprise the person. But my honey sure did surprise me.

My weekend was following the itinerary to a tee up to the point where we came home from lunch with my boss. We pulled into the garage of my (seemingly) quiet house and I grabbed the leftover cake from lunch and headed inside…to find about twenty people in my family room! I just about threw the cake in the air because I thought I was being robbed. Then once they all shouted “SURPRISE!!” I realized it was just my family and friends breaking into my house, bringing food and gifts to celebrate ME! So I guess you could say we stuck right to the plan of making the day ALL ABOUT ME!!

Well, to be totally honest, I must admit that I kinda had my suspicions about the party. All the phone calls in which Simeon would wander out of the room, the fact that practically no one called me to wish me a happy birthday, how Simeon took a lot longer time getting home on Friday after work, etc. all kinda tipped me off. But then I started thinking that maybe I was just wanting him to throw me a party so much that I was imagining it all. And not wanting to be disappointed if he didn’t plan anything, I quickly dismissed it. However I was totally shocked to have all those people at my house when I returned. If anything, I figured he would have had them all meet us at a restaurant that evening when he was going to take me out to dinner. So it was a very good thing that I was dressed in a cute outfit and actually wearing make-up when he decided to have the party (unlike when we returned from breakfast that morning!).

All in all it was a great party. There was tons of food and most of my family (we all missed you, Darcie!) was there, including a couple of my friends. I know that due to circumstances beyond their control, my other friends would have been there too. But you guys all filled my inbox with e-cards and birthday wishes that totally made up for the fact that you couldn’t make it. Don’t worry, I forgive you all!

There aren’t too many pictures, you know, since I was kinda being the center of attention and trying to get my shit together after the big surprise thing. But what I did manage to remind Simeon to take, I will upload tonight and get those on here tomorrow. But I wanted to thank each and every one of you for being in my life. You all make it fabulous and I can’t imagine it without ya. To another year, baby! I love you guys!

Let the Countdown Begin!

Well ladies and gentlemen (do I have any male readers? If so, you need to comment more, cause I am not so sure….) the weekend is practically here (3 hours and counting for me) and you all know what that means! Besides getting to sleep in, wearing pajama pants all day, and not getting off the couch unless I feel the need, it is also my birthday weekend. Yeah that’s right. I am claiming the WHOLE weekend.

I think Simeon and I are going out to dinner tonight and possibly a movie if I can convince him to tear himself way from his computer for that long. (He has been really busy with work lately and my job has been to distract him from it as much as possible. We are trying to make a baby, remember?) I want to see Must Love Dogs. I am a total sucker for a romantic comedy and let’s face it, John Cusack is just adorable.

Then tomorrow we can enjoy a relaxing morning (I do not plan to be out of bed until at least 9am, thankyouverymuch) and get ready for a retirement party for one of my old co-workers in the evening. It should be a pretty good party with lots of family and friends to celebrate. Oh and you cannot forget about the food. We totally know how to do the food up right!

Sunday is my actual birthday and we are meeting my boss at the Reserve (his golf course’s country club) for lunch. Then I plan to wind down and completely enjoy a day that is ALL ABOUT ME.

I have already started getting showered with gift, which I can’t say I mind at all (that would be the Leo in me!). My lovely husband gave me my new floors. A few weeks back my mom bought me a silver necklace and a couple pairs of coordinating earrings (she was worried she would miss me on the actual day and wanted to make sure I got my gift, how cute is she?). Oh and I have even indulged myself in a little online gift buying at LL Bean, cause anyone who knows me knows I cannot pass up sweaters!

Well, I plan to fill you all in on what actually happens later. And you never know, there may even be pictures! Until then, have a great weekend everyone! Think of me!

I’m clumsy…and other reasons why you love me

I just went into the bathroom and as I walked into the stall, knocked my shoulder directly into the door frame. Ouch. Then proceeded, moments later, to choke on just air. *Sigh* But at least I didn’t get sprayed this time.

So I have finished all my blog reading for the day. I haven’t done that in a long time. Now I just keep cycling through my fave reads to see if any of you have updated, but you haven’t. Clearly everyone else has a life and I do not. Things are just slow here in the summer time. Which really sucks, because as soon as I leave work I have a million things to do and rarely am able to get through them all.

This is rather evident by my very over-grown yard. Well, that is not entirely true. Husband mows the lawn, but more often than not the task of weeding and anything remotely considered “gardening” falls into my lap. And oh how I loathe gardening. I just don’t get why so many people like it. I mean, first of all, its outside, and its HAWT out there. The sun and I do not get along. Then you go and throw in the getting dirty part. Ewww. I am not a fan of the bugs either. And don’t even get me started on all the spider webs (spiders I could stand, cause they keep all the other bugs in check, but the webs really creep me out). Oh well, maybe its one of those things you grow into. Like enjoying your vegetables. Hmmmm. If thats the case, I may never appreciate it.

On the more exciting and geeky front, (less on the whiney front, sorry about all that) we are spicing up our Wednesday Night dinner this week. Thats right, we are taking the show on the road. We are going to Mississippi Pizza to catch a Harry and the Potters show. How freakin’ cool is that?? They sing songs about the books. They are absolutely dorky and adorable at the same time. You can listen to a few of their songs here. I think Save Ginny Weasley is my personal favorite. Sim and I actually caught ourselves singing it in the car this morning. God, I love that my husband appreciates all my geekiness. Its not quite the caliber of his, and a bring something a little different to the table, but we are quite the pair, are we not?
