Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch

Ok, as promised, here are some of the pictures I took on Saturday at the Lakeview Farms pumpkin patch and corn maze.

The gangs all here! From left to right: Penny, David, Lisa M., John, Kaylee (way up top!), Simeon, Nick and David.

In the process

Last night I was frantically organizing my photos from the corn maze and pumpkin patch so I could put them live today for your viewing pleasure. Since there are just shy of 400 pictures from the weekend to sort through (yes, I know I have issues, but my camera is just that cool), it took quite some time. Then, just as I was about to call Sim to have him help me upload them correctly, my computer crashed. That’s right. Full on froze and refused to play. It was late and I did not want to sort through them all again. Sorry. I will work on it tonight and (hopefully) have them up tomorrow.

I also wanted to thank all of you for your kind words and support. I am definitely getting better at dealing with failure (there I said it). The jury is still out as to whether that is a good thing or not.

It must be said.

I don’t really know how to say this, as I hate the “F-word” but my test did not go as, shall we say, planned. I have been having quite the time coming to terms with this situation. I go from anger, to uncontrollable tears, to humiliation, to simply “meh.” I am definately better when I am not telling someone what happened. I do not deal well with disappointment. I have made the required calls. Put the word out. Now I am just hoping I can make it through Monday (I did ask my boss if there was a way I could work from home. He laughed. Did he not know I was serious?). I am not sure what went wrong, but I am going to do whatever I can to correct it. At least the study material I used was guaranteed, so they have to pay for the next test. But oh God did I want to be done with this crap already. Oh well. I am getting up, moving on, and damn it I am going to have a fun weekend. (I hope.)

In need of good vibes

I know I have been neglecting you all lately (don’t worry Internet, I still love you!), but it’s because any free time I have has been spent studying for my Securities License. Tomorrow is the final big day. I am taking my Series 63 exam at 1pm, so I need you all to think positive thoughts and send me good vibes!! Then once this is all over, I can finally relax again and go back to my normal adult life. Who knew that I could so quickly forget how to study and do homework?

Then once the test is over, I am going to have a fun, fun weekend! First its the corn maze and pumpkin patch on Saturday with a bunch of our friends. This will be the 5th year we have been going to Lakeview Farms. It is so much fun! On Sunday Simeon and I are taking a much-needed trip to the beach. We haven’t visited our parents in ages, so we are going to Seaside for the day. I plan to have pictures up from all of the weekend’s events! Check back soon!

Half-way there!

While many of you may be thinking, “Of course you passed, you are so smart” I was really sweating this one. I mean to tell ya! This was such a stressful test. Oh and there is still one more to go! But that ones not until next Friday, so I get a day to rest my brain. Lay off already!

I’m not sure if it’s the fact that I am out of practice at taking exams, or the fact that my passing affected more than just myself, but I was really nervous yesterday. My palms were all sweaty and my leg was nervously bouncing as I hit the “Submit” button. And I have got to say it was the longest 10 seconds of my life waiting for the results to pop up on the screen! I even got light-headed and wondered what would happen if I actually passed out. When the results finally came up, I tried to interpret the mass of numbers, frantically scanning the screen for something that meant anything, when I came across the words “passed.” I breathed a great sigh of relief and was glad I could actually return to my place of employment. Cause I gotta say, for awhile there, I was thinking I would never be able to show my face at work again if I failed. And I really wasn’t in the mood to dig out my resumé.

I’m so excited!

Ohmigod! Sim just bought me my very own Nikon D70!!! I am so excited! He said its because he never gets me good presents on birthdays, anniversaries, etc., but I know it’s because he is the best husband in the world!

So now I need some help. I need things to take pictures of so I can share how wonderful my new baby is. There is this little Meme that has been everwhere and I think is really cool. I saw it over at Rachel’s, Erika’s and Goldie’s, but now its everwhere I go! So now it’s up to you guys:

Think of 3 pictures you’d like to see. Things around my house, my animals, or whatever… something I can take a picture of easily. Leave your requests in the comments. Once I have enough requests, I’ll start posting them. If I can’t, or won’t, take a picture of something you’ve requested, I’ll let you know.

If you need me, I’ll be studying.

Well, it’s official. I have set the date to take the test for my Series 6 Securities exam. The big day is scheduled for October 6th. I will not be around much for the next few days, as I will be spending any free time I may have studying my little brain out. It’s been so long since I have taken a test with this much weighing on it, that I am really starting to feel the pressure. Wish me luck!

My weekend

Wow. It was a busy weekend. Friday evening Sim and I went to Olive Garden with my friend Jason and his girlfriend Rebecca. We had a fun time, and who doesn’t like an endless supply of breadsticks?

Then Saturday, Sim and I worked around the house and did fun things like laundry and studying for my Series 6. Yuck! But that evening we had our annual cul-de-sac BBQ. We live in a really great neighborhood where the people are fantastic, everyone watches out for each other, and we do cool things, like BBQ together. How awesome is that? It really makes us appreciate our home that much more knowing that we are surrounded by good people.

Sunday was a much needed “girls day” at Carson Hot Springs, while the boys came over to my house to play video games, tear up computers, and get in lots of foos ball. So I set off early Sunday morning to pick up the Lisas (Lisa P. and Lisa M.–I am surpised they let me hang out with them, being a “Carrie” and all) and we set off for Carson. It was a beautiful sunny day and the breeze off the gorge was perfect. We arrive at the spa and stripped down for our soak in a mineral bath. It was super relaxing sitting in the hot water. We were able to whisper and giggle until other women arrived and they had to shush us. Then, once we were nice and wrinkled, they escorted us to a different room where they wrapped us up in sheets and blankets, leaving only our nose and mouth exposed! I thought it would be scary or claustrophobic, but it was really relaxing…Lisa P. even fell asleep! Then we were unwrapped and it was time for our hour long massages! Ohhhh it was so nice. Having never received a massage before, I had no idea what to expect. But let me tell you, I loved every painful second of it! Come to find out later, the lady I had likes to get kinda rough. Who knew I would like that so much?! (Shame on you for thinking about me like that!) Then we showered and were ready to go. When it was all said and done it was a wonderful experience. Then we stopped for lunch and headed homeward.

When I finally got home, I found out that the boys were not as on the ball as us girls and had only just arrived! Jeez. Slackers. So Sim, Adam, Nick, David and occasionally Scott, played around on the computers and with David’s Xbox, sneaking in some foos ball here and there. All the while, I played with Darcie, Adam’s oldest daughter. We talked for quite some time (I just love the things that come out of the mouths of children!), played with my dogs, sat on the swings, tossed some balloons around, and climbed my play structure. It was a very peaceful end to a relaxing day. Then eventually everyone went home and I fell fast asleep! Hope you all had as productive a weekend as I did!

Harry Potter

Ok, I am just gonna admit it and I don’t care who knows: I am the biggest Harry Potter fan. I am not sure if its just refreshing to connect with my inner-child or what. But anyone who knows me knows that I am a super addict. So you can imagine how excited I was the other day when I stumbled across this. It is the coolest site. I guess it’s because everything on it goes through J.K. herself, so how could it not be?

So I was playing around on the site while I was stuck in bed over the past few days (thank God for laptops and wireless Internet!) and I managed to solve a few of the “hidden puzzles” and have received four rewards. Has anyone gotten any more? I guess I just need to be patient and keep checking back for progress.

By the way, for any Potter fans out there, the rewards are totally worth the wait! Incredible.
