Easter Activities Recap

Here is a pictorial recap of our Easter festivities this year.

First, we had our MOMS Club Easter Egg Hunt.

Then we dyed Easter Eggs with my mom.

Easter morning, Ana had to follow the hidden egg clues to find her (and Hadley’s) Easter baskets.

Then we had a little fun with the Easter baskets.

And of course, we have to end with a picture of my beautiful family on Easter.

You can see all the pictures here and here.

4 Month Doctors Appt

Hadley had her four-month doctors appointment today. Here are her stats from the appt:

Height: 25 1/2″ (90th percentile)
Weight: 16 lbs 14.5 oz (97th percentile)
Head: 41.7 cm (75th percentile)

After looking Hadley over at her appointment today, the doctor commented that she looks like she is pretty close to rolling over. He set her on her stomach and she just about flipped over right then and there! I also asked him about all the drooling and her chewing on her hands and he looked in her mouth and confirmed that her gums were swollen which means she is… I hate to even say it… teething. I knew it would happen sooner or later, but I was REALLY hoping for later. So that explains why my happy little princess has been a little, shall we say, “testy” lately. And it certainly justifies all the drool. On top of all that, Hadley had several immunizations today. So after a few minutes of near hysterical crying, she pretty much passed out for a couple hours. Poor thing. Otherwise everything went great at the appointment. She is growing and developing right on schedule which makes for one happy mama!

Daddy Daughter Dance

Last night Ana and Sim went to the annual Daddy Daughter Dance that the Cedar Hills Rec Center puts on each year around Valentine’s Day. Ana looks forward to it all year. Anything fancy or special she sees she asks, “Could I wear that to the Daddy Daughter Dance?” So this year we really went all out. I let her pick out a fancy dress (from the leftover Christmas clearance). I let her borrow my heart earrings. I even ordered her a corsage.

Here they are, all ready to go!

Are they not the cutest thing ever?

My little girl is growing up so fast!

Ana was so proud of her fancy hair. And the silver heart earrings!

Ana is all ready to dance the night away.

They both had a wonderful time. Ana is already asking about next years dance! You can see all the pictures I took here. Enjoy!

Saying Good-bye To The Nap

Well, it was bound to happen.

Ana finally gave up napping.

The majority of her friends have already stopped napping. I knew it was going to happen eventually but I was certainly in no rush. I was especially happy that Ana still took naps when I was pregnant and during Hadley’s early days because it made it easy for me to grab a nap for myself every now and then. But lately on the rare occasion that Ana would fall asleep during the day she had a hard time going to bed at night. Since she has to get up for school in the morning, I wasn’t really happy about her delaying bedtime and losing her much-needed sleep. So we took the plunge and simply omitted her nap.

There were a few days of grumpy attitudes and more whining that usual. And if we go for a car ride after 3pm I can almost guarantee that Ana’s head will start to tilt to the side and her eyes will get glassy and start rolling back in her head. But those occurrences are getting fewer and farther between.

It’s hard to believe my little girl is getting so grown up.

The Best Big Sister

Ana is an amazing big sister. Not that I ever doubted she would be, but that doesn’t change the fact that she continues to blow me away each and every day. She loves her little sister like you would not believe. She is always willing to help out any way she can. Ana loves picking out Hadley’s clothes each morning or keeping her happy in her crib until someone can pick her up. But more than the tasks I ask her to do (which she does without ever complaining), are the things she does all on her own.

Playing with her sister

The other day I was holding Hadley and she started making her hungry cry. I asked if anyone had seen the Boppy pillow and Ana happily volunteered to go get it for me so I could feed her sister. When she walked back into the room she said, “I grabbed the swaddle blanket too just in case Hadley gets tired and wants to go to sleep.”

Two Smiling Sisters

Then last night I was feeding Hadley at the kitchen table (yes, I can nurse and eat at the dinner table at the same time) when Hadley started throwing up. I tried to contain as much of the vomit as I could with my own body and clothes. Once Hadley stopped puking, Sim scooped her up and took her over to the kitchen sink to start rinsing her off. Ana vanished and I assumed it was just to get away from all the puke when all of a sudden she returned to the room with a baby wipe in her hands and said, “Don’t worry guys, I got this!” and she started cleaning up the few drips of puke on the floor.

Sisters

I don’t know what I did to get so lucky with my amazing daughters, but I’m not going to question it. I am just going to enjoy every minute I can with my precious babies.

Hadley and Ana

Fun in the Snow

Sim and Ana are obsessed with snow. Obsessed. Since the first flake of the season fell, they have been talking about going to the mountain. Well last weekend they finally seized the day and drove up to Mt. Hood. They did some tubing at Ski Bowl and some sledding at Trillium Lake (while Hadley and I stayed in town and went to see the new Harry Potter movie). That very evening Ana asked her dad, “Was that the only time we get to do that? Or can we go back to the mountain again?” When Sim said they could, Ana promptly followed up with, “So it’s five days til it’s weekend again, right?”

Since Ana proved she could handle a day in the snow, Sim decided to try and add to her winter recreation repertoire. Ultimately he would like Ana to be his snowboarding buddy, but since she is still a little young for shredding (ski lessons start at 4, while snow boarding lessons aren’t until 7) he wanted to get her up on the skis. We borrowed a pair of beginner skis from our friends (thanks, Cyndie!) and let Ana try them out on the carpet. She had a lot of fun “skiing” around our living room.

Ana’s only complaint about their last snow trip was that Hadley and I weren’t there to enjoy it with them. So this time we all went as a family. (Hadley and I watched them play from the comfort of the warm car, while listening to an audio book.) When we got to the mountain, Sim and I decided it would be best for Ana to start with skiing since it would take more energy and patience. Sim strapped on her skis and let Ana get a feel for them in the snow.

Next they added the poles…

And she was off…

And then she was down.

She did several quick runs, but having more of a “need for speed” Ana decided she wanted to take a break from skiing and hopped on our new sled.

Then she gave our old disc sled a few tries.

Not wanting to be left out of the fun, Sim hopped on the large sled with Ana.

A day in the snow just isn’t complete without a little wrestling!

As our day of winter fun was coming to a close, we bundled up Hadley and brought her out to get a couple family shots out in the snow.

You can see all the pictures from our day at the mountain here.
